Description
Since its founding in 1902, Byrdcliffe has welcomed artists—Bob Dylan, Philip Guston, Eva Hesse, and hundreds more—to and live and work surrounded by 250 acres of the Catskill Mountains’ serene natural beauty. Byrdcliffe offers several types of residency ranging from four weeks to five months to year-round for artists in multiple disciplines. The main criterion for acceptance to Byrdcliffe’s AiR program is artistic excellence and a demonstrated commitment to one’s field of endeavor. Byrdcliffe seeks to pull together artists from varying perspectives, ages, and demographics, and engage with a broad range of artistic practices.

Description
The Tyrolean Bschlabertal valley lies at an altitude of 1,400 meters and is one of the most remote places in Austria. Today, fewer than 90 people live there, with an aging population and rural exodus taking their toll on the region. For the fifth time, medienfrische is taking place there over 21 days. medienfrische is a contemporary art festival and artist-in-residence program that focuses on current developments. The landscape and the completely different way of organizing everyday life in the valley require new and unconventional ways of thinking and ideas, as well as a questioning of conventional ways of working and living.

Description
Rabbit Island is 91 acres of forest and sandstone located in Lake Superior—the largest body of freshwater in the world—four miles east of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula within the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe. The island is composed of a native ecosystem and has never before been developed or subdivided.
The Rabbit Island Residency provides financial support, time, and pristine natural spaces to challenge creative practices in a wilderness environment. Artists live and work on the island for 2-4 weeks, engaging directly with the landscape, responding to notions of conservation, ecology, and sustainability via their research and cultural works. The residency reflects on the American continent’s four hundred year history of settlement and division of land and stems from the idea that in a developed society intelligent organization of wild spaces is one of the most civilized things we can pursue.
